This week we welcome our guest blogger, Western Union customer and employee, Charissa Carnall. Charissa is on our Global Social Media team. She recently used Western Union when planning her trip to Mexico.

As a Western Union employee, I like to look for new ways to use our products and services in everyday life. For our three-year anniversary, my husband and I chose to vacation in Mazatlan, Mexico. This was our first time traveling to Mexico and we were uneasy about traveling with a lot of cash. Typically our debit cards don’t work outside of the U.S. so we didn’t want that to be our backup option. We don’t use credit cards, so we felt we were at a loss when it came to having enough cash in the local currency as we traveled to Mexico.

Then I found out about the Western Union® TravelWiseSM service. With the TravelWise service, we were able to send money to ourselves before we left home. After discussing the options with my husband we decided to send the money from a Western Union agent location. While I preferred sending online (something I’ve done many times), he likes to do things in person, face-to-face at a Western Union agent location.  My husband took our cash to the Winn Dixie just down the road from our house and sent the money to himself. Once we arrived in Mazatlan, we took a Pulmonia (taxi) to the Western Union agent location near our resort and picked up the money. It was simple and convenient.

We were extremely grateful to be able to use the TravelWise service on our vacation. It kept us from being stressed about where our money was. I was able to stay worry-free knowing we could use our money while in Mexico; we weren’t fearful that our debit cards would be declined.
